The Gender, Family, and Policy Research Initiative is a research group in the Department of Human Ecology at the University of Alberta. Our work examines the relationship between individuals and the state, focusing particularly on the ways in which specific policies affect well-being, social equality, and access to resources for individuals and families. Areas of research include social policy related to the well-being of children and families; employment activation and labour market integration; social policy paradigms; poverty; gender analysis; citizenship; and feminist critical theory.
